From the Archives to the Stage: Dmitry Smirnov to Premiere Popov’s Violin Concerto
April 6, 2025

Dmitry Smirnov will give the world premiere of the long-lost Violin Concerto by Soviet composer Gavriil Popov. The concert is set for March 1, 2026, at the prestigious Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, alongside the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia “Evgeny Svetlanov” under the baton of Philipp Chizhevsky.

After months of research, transcription, and negotiation, the rediscovery and realization of this concerto mark a major artistic milestone. The program also includes works by Georg Friedrich Haas and Thomas Adès. For more information, visit the official concert listing.
