Zofia Neugebauer returns to the Janáček Philharmonic
May 25, 2026

On May 22, Zofia Neugebauer returned to the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava to perform Marc-André Dalbavie’s Concerto for Flute and Orchestra under the direction of Geoffrey Paterson. The Flute Concerto by contemporary French composer Marc-André Dalbavie was written in 2005 for the flute legend Emmanuel Pahud. Dalbavie’s compositional style, often described as spectral, abounds in timbral and coloristic effects and dazzles with rhythmically demanding, rapid passages. The programme also included Pēteris Vasks’ Cantabile and Robert Schumann’s Symphony No. 3 “Rhenish”. Neugebauer previously made her debut with the orchestra in 2025 performing Krzysztof Penderecki’s Concerto for Flute and Orchestra.

In October 2026, Neugebauer will return to the Czech Republic once again, this time with the Jove Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona under the direction of Carlos Checa, with concerts in Teplice and Prague.
